Join the BCMA and museums from around BC as we celebrate and highlight the work of our members, discuss important themes for the sector, and work together to build a stronger future.
BC Museums Week will take place May 13-20, 2018.
BC Museums Week is the annual celebration of museums, art galleries, historic sites, cultural centres, and other memory institutions in BC.
In 2018, BCMA will focus on themes of “connectedness” to showcase the impact of museums in B.C. communities – e.g. collaboration between museums and First Nations to showcase Indigenous languages and cultural heritage and advance reconciliation, museums as sites of learning and connection, diversity and inclusion as new drivers, and innovative uses of technology to connect people with collections. This theme is chosen to reflect the 2018 theme for International Museums Day: “Hyperconnected museums: new publics, new approaches.”
There are many ways to join in the BC Museums Week celebrations, including activities on social media and on-site at your museum. BCMA provides a How-To Guide for participating in BC Museums Week, and new this year are posters for display at your museum.
