Bulkley Valley Museum / Smithers Art Gallery "Family Day at Creation Station" event, February 2019

– Families in action at the Bulkley Valley Museum / Smithers Art Gallery “Family Day at Creation Station” event, February 2019

Family Day was introduced in B.C. in 2013 to recognize the great contributions that families make to our lives, our communities and our province. Supporting families is essential to building strong, happy and healthy communities. B.C. Family Day is a day to get together with loved ones. In celebration of this important day, special events and activities in communities around the province are being held Family Day Weekend for families to enjoy.

During February 2019, the BC Museums Association, in partnership with the Province of British Columbia, launched a Family Day grant program. These one-time grants supported local museums, art galleries, historic places, cultural heritage institutions and First Nations communities in coordinating, family-based, admission-free, Family Day events in their communities.

In total we distributed:

  • $46,000
  • 59 grant awards
  • In 48 distinct communities

Congratulations to our 2019 Family Day grant recipients!
