We are (almost) officially a month away from Conference and it’s already nearly the end of summer. It seems like just yesterday that I was writing my introductory blog post!

This summer has certainly been a busy one for the BCMA. As for me, my time up until now has been mostly spent working on conference related tasks alongside my colleagues and the local conference committee members, who are doing such a good job of ensuring that the Prince George Conference will be a big success!

Allowing me to exercise my graphic design muscles, I took on the project of compiling the program (which I am ever aspiring to ensure is succinct lest it edge towards the category of small novel…) as well as putting together weekly communications through social media to promote our conference speakers and sessions. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to read about the excellent work is going on throughout the province by BCMA members. Conference delegates are certainly in for a treat!

A highlight for me this month as an artist and as someone interested in arts non-profit, was the opportunity to sit in on the BCMA Conference bursary adjudication. It was compelling to get insight on an award or grant-type application by experiencing this from the perspective of a decision maker rather than an applicant, which provided an opportunity for me to reflect on some of the applications I have made and what I might do differently moving forward. Thank you to Anissa for including me in this process!

You’ll hear from me one last time in September as a wrap up to my blog updates and to say goodbye. For now, enjoy a sneak peak of the Conference 2019 program cover!
