Project: Building CLHofF Museum and Digital Archives
Funding Received: $25,000
For BC|Canada150, the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame Museum was able to purchase two museum quality display cases, a scanner for the digitization of archival records, and display newly digitized images on a new kiosk in the Museum, as well as online.
The two new cases provide the Museum with an elevated appearance and professionalism, and have already been the subject of positive feedback from the public.
The ability to digitize photos has allowed for more display opportunities for archival materials, increasing collections accessibility. Now, hundreds of historic images have been digitized. These images provide a walk through time, not only for those who visit the Museum, but for all those who access the website.
Lacrosse in BC dates to the 1880s – before BC became a part of the Canadian Confederation. The Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame is the keeper of the cultural, spiritual, and sporting history of Canada’s national sport. It honours the tradition of Lacrosse in BC and across Canada from its very roots through its transition to modern life. The Museum, with is new permanent display and electronic enhancements, will provide a lasting legacy in New Westminster, and online, for generations to come.
