The BC Museums Association is a vibrant cultural community that provides access to professional resources designed to support you and the work of your museum or gallery. There are five membership categories; each with its own unique benefits package. Take advantage of all that’s offered, and get the most from your membership!

 

Institutional Membership (IM) is best suited to qualified museums*, galleries, archives, historic sites and related institutions in British Columbia, open to the public.

Individual Membership (VM) is for employees of qualified museums*, galleries, archives, historic sites and related institutions and to any person who wishes to promote the aims of the Association, whether or not he or she is connected with a museum.

Student/Volunteer Membership (SM) is for registered students of any educational institution while they remain students. Also open to museum volunteers.

Affiliate Membership (AM) is best suited to museums, galleries, historic sites not yet open to the public, corporate supporters, consulting firms and service providers, privately-owned collections, commercial galleries, and interested societies and organizations. This membership is non-voting.

Affiliate Individual Membership (AIM) is for individuals who earn income through contracts or service provision or other commercial activities for museums, galleries, heritage organizations or related institutions. This membership is non-voting.

*Qualified museums and related institutions in British Columbia include art galleries; natural, archeological and ethnographic monuments and sites and historical monuments and sites of a museum nature that acquire, conserve and communicate material evidence of people and their environment; institutions holding collections of and displaying live specimens of plants and animals, such as botanical and zoological gardens, aquaria and vivaria; science centres and planetaria; conservation institutes and exhibition galleries permanently maintained by libraries and archive centres; nature reserves; such other institutions as the Council considers as having some or all of the characteristics of a museum or as supporting museums and professional museum workers through museological research, education or training, such as heritage organizations.
