Struggling with a challenge in your museum? Chances are, someone in another museum has faced – and solved – the same problem. Subscribe to the BCMA’s listserve and ask the advice of museum professionals across the province (scroll down for examples of the kinds of topics discussed).
The BCMA-L Listserv provides a forum for members and non-members to post job opportunities and discuss issues through a monitored listserv.
Subscriptions to the BCMA-L Listserve are free if you call the Membership Co-ordinator at (250) 356-5700, or e-mail: Members@museumsassn.bc.ca.
To be placed on the “Member’s Only” Listserv membership must be purchased. This listserv provides additional postings which are not sent to non-members.
To post a notice on the Listserv, send your post to: firstname.lastname@example.org. No instructions on the post is required (such as “Please post this to the Listserv”), simply write as if you are talking to the entire group. It is best to include all information within the body of the email rather than adding attachments as some recipients have In Box size limits. Small attachments like a low-resolution photo of items or a small PDF are generally fine to post. The subject line should clearly indicate what your notice is about (such as “Job Posting: Exhibit Technician” or “Information required on 1920s dress” or “Solutions for storage?”). Unless it is a post that may result in a discussion that would benefit others, please include your contact information so that members can contact you directly.
To purchase membership and be included in the “Member’s Only” Listserv, please see our Membership section.
