BCMA Professional Development & Education Committee – Terms of Reference 2020

 

1. Purpose

The Professional Development and Education Committee is responsible for identifying and supporting professional training, peer networking, and educational opportunities for BCMA members.

 

2. Role

The Professional Development and Education Committee provides strategic guidance on training, peer networking, and educational program development to the BCMA including online resources, annual conference, regional workshops and other educational opportunities.

 

3. Membership/Composition

Membership will be comprised of current BCMA members. The committee will be chaired or co-chaired by a Council member. The committee will be comprised of not less than four members and not more than nine.

 

4. Duties and Responsibilities  

Specific priorities include:

  • Advising on educational strategy in conjunction with BCMA staff
  • Provide support to and receive information from Conference working group on themes and program content
  • Providing support by connecting with museums, cultural organizations, knowledge experts, educational institutions, and funding organizations
  • Ensuring awareness, inclusion, diversity and accessibility through educational and professional development opportunities for members across the province
  • Reporting to Council on Professional Development and Education Committee activities

 

5. Meeting Frequency  

Quarterly, primarily conducted via conference call.
